Our Physicians

Dr. Brightman is a Board Certified OBGYN and a founding member of Eastside Women’s OBGYN Associates, established in 1990. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology a member of both the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, and the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). Dr. Brightman has achieved recognition as a NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner. Her clinical areas of interest include the management of perimenopause, menopause, and family planning. She cherishes the relationships she has built with her patients and their families during her 30 years of practice. After many wonderful years of delivering babies, Dr. Brightman has limited her practice to gynecology.

Dr. Brightman graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received her M.D. degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where she also completed her residency in OBGYN. Dr. Brightman currently serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is a member of The Menopause Center and the voluntary faculty at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Castle Connolly consistently lists Dr. Brightman as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area.

Dr. Brightman is frequently featured in the media as a women’s health expert. She has served on advisory boards for magazines and pharmaceutical companies and has had articles published in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Brightman is married to an ophthalmologist and has 2 young adult sons. She enjoys reading and traveling and her passions include family, friends, fitness, fashion, and her furry Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Dr. Michele Silverstein is a graduate of Cornell University where she earned a BA in Psychology. She received her medical degree from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and completed her residency training AECOM/Bronx Municipal Hospital Center as well.

Dr. Silverstein has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Manhattan for over 20 years. She feels privileged to be able to practice personalized medical care for women across the spectrum of their lives, from adolescence through menopause as well as guiding many through pregnancy. Dr. Silverstein values the importance of a trusted doctor-patient relationship and recognizes that each patient has unique needs. Her areas of interest include contraception, preconceptual care, family planning, pregnancy and the perimenopause.

Dr. Silverstein in married to a medical oncologist and lives in Manhattan with her husband and 2 children. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Shaaray Tefila and is also actively involved with Camp Blue Ridge.

Dr. Shur is a board-certified Ob-Gyn in private practice in Manhattan since 2004. During her Third year of medical school, in the first week of her Ob-Gyn clerkship, Dr. Shur knew she had found her calling. Taking care of women through the most important times in their lives felt like a perfect fit. She has now been in practice long enough to be delivering the babies of women who first became her patients as young teenagers. Getting to know her patients well over many years enables her to deliver extremely personalized care and to be a better physician.

Dr. Shur’s areas of interest include preconception planning and guidance, general and high risk obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, challenging contraception management, dysfunctional bleeding and urinary incontinence. She Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr Shur was completed her residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital. She is proud to be a Clinical Instructor in the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine and to be on the staff of Voluntary Attendings at Mount Sinai Hospital. (She was also born there!)

Dr Shur lives with her husband and two sons in New York City. She is passionate about skiing and enjoys hiking and biking. She loves to travel and has explored North, Central and South America; Europe and Africa.
